Center for Health Psychology and Biofeedback, LLC

Amanda Donnelly, Ph.D., L.P., L.P.C.C., B.C.B., N.C.C.

Welcome

I am a licensed psychologist, and I have been providing mental health treatment since 2011. I work with people that are experiencing stress, anxiety, depressed mood, fatigue, relationship issues, life transitions, and more. I also provide mental health therapy for people who are experiencing physical health issues (e.g., sleep issues, chronic pain, irritable bowel syndrome, migraines, headaches, fibromyalgia, and other chronic illnesses or medical conditions). Because of my specialized training in health psychology, in addition to typical psychotherapy practices and techniques, I may also focus more than general psychologists on the mind-body connection (which is how our body is impacted by our mental health and how our mental health impacts our body).

Types of Treatment Offered

I provide several different types of therapy, depending on the individual’s needs.

Ocean and sand

CBT

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based therapy which focuses on identifying, understanding, challenging, and changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, which often then leads to changes in emotions.

ACT

Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based therapy which focuses on no longer avoiding emotions and situations, rather accepting emotions and circumstances, and still living a life in accordance with one’s values. This approach also includes a significant amount of mindfulness practice.

Biofeedback

Biofeedback is an evidence-based therapy which uses equipment to gather physiological data (e.g., heart rate variability, breathe rate, skin temperature, and sweating on the fingertips) and helps us to understand and manage our body’s reaction to stress and relaxation.

Mental health problems do not define who you are.
They are something you experience.
You walk in the rain, and you feel the rain,
but you are not the rain.

Matt Haig

My approach to therapy is non-judgmental, and I encourage individuals to share as much or as little as they would like. Then, together, in collaboration, we decide where and how to implement change.

Getting started!

I am so glad you are here! I know it can be incredibly difficult to start making steps toward initiating therapy, but you have gotten over that first hurdle of beginning your search.

Now, it is time to choose a therapist. I strongly encourage you to look through several mental health providers’ pages and profiles. If possible, try to talk with them as well, to get a feel for how you may interact with them. Keep in mind that it is okay to ask them questions (i.e., about their specialties, licensure or certifications, cost, in addition to what typical therapy with them might look like). Then, make your decision based on who feels like a good fit for you and what you want to get out of therapy.

I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation, in an effort to help us decide if we might be a good fit. To schedule this free consultation, click Request Appointment
